Supplies you'll need to crochet Machop
General supplies:
- Crochet hook 2,5 mm, I always use clover amour hooks for my projects!
- Sewing needle
- Stuffing
- Stitch marker
With Amigurumi you guage doesn’t matter much. Using smaller hook and yarn will make you finished Machop smaller, and bigger hook and yarn will make it bigger. Just make sure that your yarn and hook fits together and makes a tight fabric so the stuffing won’t show through!
For a smaller version, about 10 cm tall, or 4 inches, you will need the following yarn.
I reccomend Hobbii Rainbow cotton 8/4. This yarn is a 100% cotton and very nice to work with! With this yarn, I use a 2,5 mm hook. If Rainbow cotton is sold out, I can also recommend Friends cotton from Hobbii as a direct substitute.
- Pale blue
- tan/brown
- a bit of black, white and red for embroidery

Assembly of your crochet Machop
Begin the assembly by pinning all the pieces together. This will give you a good idea of how Machop will look once finished and make it easier to place everything correctly.
Start by sewing the head to the body, making sure the head is turned the right way with the starting magic ring at the very top.
Once the head and body are joined, add the tail and legs. Since Machop is sitting, the bottoms of the legs and the tail should line up evenly around rounds three to four of the body. To find the front, look for the increases and decreases on the head; the center between them marks the front of the face. Place the legs on each side of the body, then attach the tail on the back, centered between the legs.
After this, add the arms. Close the last round of each arm before attaching, then position them so the tops sit just below the head, covering about four rounds of the body. Turn the piece as you work to make sure the arms look even from every angle.
Next, attach the head ridges on top of the head. Begin with the center ridge, then add the two side ridges, keeping them symmetrical. From the front, they should be spaced about one and a half to two stitches apart.
Finally, embroider the face details. Start with long black eyes, add the red iris, and then place small white highlights on the edges and in the center of the pupils. To complete Machop’s look, embroider the nose, mouth, and the lines on the chest.
