Get ready to crochet some mischief with this Mankey amigurumi pattern! Mankey, the Fighting-type Pokémon, is famous for its fiery temper and boundless energy. With its round body, pig-like nose, and long tail, this little Pokémon is always ready to jump into action—and maybe throw a tantrum or two along the way.

This crochet pattern captures Mankey’s playful yet feisty spirit, bringing to life its scruffy fur and expressive features. Whether you’re a fan of its chaotic personality or simply love collecting Pokemon, this project makes for a fun and lively addition to your amigurumi Pokémon collection.

Supplies you'll need to crochet Mankey

General supplies:

With Amigurumi you guage doesn’t matter much. Using smaller hook and yarn will make you finished Mankey smaller, and bigger hook and yarn will make it bigger. Just make sure that your yarn and hook fits together and makes a tight fabric so the stuffing won’t show through!

For a smaller version, about 12 cm tall, or 5 inches, you will need the following yarn.

I reccomend Hobbii Rainbow cotton 8/4. This yarn is a 100% cotton and very nice to work with! With this yarn, I use a 2,5 mm hook. If Rainbow cotton is sold out, I can also recommend Friends cotton from Hobbii as a direct substitute.

  • Beige
  • Brown
  • a bit of black, white, red and light pink for face details.

Assembly of your crochet Mankey

If the yarn you use do not hold its own shape well, consider adding wiring to the libs. Start by assembling the legs. You will have a foot piece and a thigh piece. Connect the lower leg and the magic ring-end of the thigh. The thigh should be at an angle to give the right posture – the magic ring should look like a knee. Be sure to stoff before sewing Then assemble the arms and hands. The hands sit at the beginning of the arm. The chain start of the hand is the front of the hand. Hold up the arm to the body to ensure correct hand placement.

Now we attach the limbs. Start by marking the front of the body (the back should have a clear bump). On either side of the center, attach the arms at rnds 11-13. Make sure the positioning of the arms are as you wish before sewing.

Then attach the tail. The tail sits at rnd 17-18 at the center of the back.

Now attach the legs. Position the legs so you Mankey can stand by pinning the legs and balancing the piece until correct placement. Do sew the top of the thigh in a more flat manner to get the right position of the legs.

Next we add the face details. Start by the ears. The ears sit on rnds 5-8 on either side of the body. Add the inner ear to the front of the ears afterwards. Be sure to attach the bottom of it as close to the body-piece as possible to get the best result.

Now attach the eyes. Turn the eyes so the points face each other. The top corner of the eye starts at rnd 11. Pin the eyes in place to secure placement. There will be about 1 stitch between the inner corners of the eyes. Then add the nose between and below the eyes.

Add embroidery in red and black for the pupil and iris. Then outline the eyes to give Mankey the mean expression. Also add black nostrils.
