Graceful, fast, and fiercely elegant, Persian is ready to pounce into your amigurumi collection! Known for its sleek tan-colored fur, piercing eyes, and regal demeanor, Persian is one of the most iconic feline Pokémon from the original games. While it carries itself with calm sophistication, Persian is also a swift and agile hunter, capable of striking in an instant with its sharp claws and incredible speed.

This free crochet pattern captures Persian in a dynamic pouncing pose, bringing extra movement and personality to the design. From its curled tail and signature forehead gem to its stretched-out stance, every detail is made to highlight Persian’s graceful yet powerful nature.

I hope you enjoy my take on a crochet Persian, and love their dynamic pose!

Supplies you'll need to crochet Persian

General supplies:

  • Crochet hook 2,5 mm
  • Sewing needle
  • Stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • (optional) wire for the tail
  •

With Amigurumi you guage doesn’t matter much. Using smaller hook and yarn will make you finished Persian smaller, and bigger hook and yarn will make him bigger. Just make sure that your yarn and hook fits together and makes a tight fabric so the stuffing won’t show through!

For a smaller version, about 10 cm tall, or 4 inches (paw to tip of tail), you will need the following yarn.

I use 8/4 cotton with a 2,5 mm hook. You will need the following colors:

  • – Tan
  • – Red
  • – White
  • – Black

Assembly of your crochet Persian

For this piece, it is important to make sure it is stable with all 4 paws planted on the ground. If the legs are attached askew, it will be noticeable as one or more legs are not touching the ground. To counteract this, be sure to pin body, head and legs together with pins before sewing them on and check often while sewing.

The head has a slight bump on the top, this is where increases were placed on round 4-7. Locate this and mark the top of the head. The body is shaped to give a dynamic “pouncing” pose. The decrease on rnd 10 of the body is the top of the body. Knowing the top of both head and body, pin them together. The body-opening should sit a bit low on the head, just covering the center where you finished off.

Now add the legs to either side of the body. The front legs go back to rnd 13 of the body (counted from starting mr) and sit mostly below the body, with about 3 stitches between the front legs on the belly-side. The thighs of the back legs are sitting flat against the body. They sit on rnds 4-9 of the body with about 9 stitches between them over the back on the narrowest place.
BE AWARE that the stability of your persian might require different placement of the legs. If exact placement doesn’t look right, move the legs around to make sure all paws hit the ground. Then sew the pieces together. Again, do check often that all paws still connect to the ground nicely to not end up with a lopsided Persian.

Next add facial features. The ears sit on rnds 8-9 og the head with 2 stitches between them. The eyes sit on rnds 5-6 with about 5-6 stitches between them over the top of the head. Place the gem between the eyes.

Add a black pupil to each eye and whiskers in the tan yarn. Embroider a nose and mouth. I followed the outline of the starting mr as a guide for the nose.

Lastly add the tail. The tail sits on the tallest part of the body on rnds 5-6 of the body,  centered between the back legs.
