Supplies you'll need to crochet Swablu
General supplies:
- Crochet hook 2,5 mm, I always use clover amour hooks for my projects!
- Sewing needle
- Stuffing
- Stitch marker
- Safety eyes (optional)
With Amigurumi you guage doesn’t matter much. Using smaller hook and yarn will make you finished Swablu smaller, and bigger hook and yarn will make him bigger. Just make sure that your yarn and hook fits together and makes a tight fabric so the stuffing won’t show through!
This Swablu will be about 12cm/5 inches wide if you use the recommended yarn below.
I reccomend Hobbii Rainbow cotton 8/4. This yarn is a 100% cotton and very nice to work with! With this yarn, I use a 2,5 mm hook (or a B-1 or C-2 should work too!). If Rainbow cotton is sold out, I can also recommend Friends cotton from Hobbii as a direct substitute.
- 1 x light bluw
- 1 x white
- A bit of black if you embroider the eyes
For this pattern, you can experiment with different yarn types for the wings to achieve an even fluffier look! Be sure the gauge on the different yarns stays roughly the same to ensure the dimensions of your Swablu remain accurate.

Assembly of your Swablu
To assemble your Swablu, place the wings on either side of the body between rounds 8-11. Next place the beak between the wings at rounds 7-11. If you use safety eyes for your Swablu, be sure to place both wings and beak correctly compared to the eyes!
Next attach the feathers for the head on top of the magic ring and the tail feather centered on the back at round 13. The feet should be placed under the body on either side of the 2nd to last round (16). I only attached the magic ring of the feet and left the claws free from the body.
Lastly, embroider eyes onto Swablu if you haven’t used safety eyes.
